A wax lasts a few washes. A sealant lasts a season. A ceramic coating is a liquid silica (SiO2) layer that cures into a hard, glass-like shell bonded to your clear coat, and it stays there for years. Water beads and rolls off, taking dirt with it. Road salt, bird droppings, tree sap and UV sit on the coating instead of etching into the paint. Washing turns into a rinse and a wipe, and the car looks freshly detailed between washes instead of for a week after one.
The part most people miss is that a coating locks in whatever is underneath it. Coat a car with swirls and you have shiny, permanent swirls. That is why every package we sell includes paint prep or correction matched to the tier, and why we use Gyeon's professional line (CanCoat EVO, MOHS EVO and SYNCRO EVO) instead of a consumer spray. We coat the car at your home because the coating needs a clean, controlled surface and a few hours of cure time, and a driveway or garage you control is better than a shop bay you do not.

Connecticut gives paint a new problem every season: pollen in spring, sun and sand in summer, sap and tannin in fall and road salt all winter. A coating keeps all of that off the clear coat and turns washing into a rinse. Near the Sound, where salt air dulls unprotected paint fast, it pays for itself quickest.
Wax is a natural product that lasts weeks and gives a warm glow. A synthetic sealant lasts three to six months and resists chemicals better. A ceramic coating lasts one to four years, is far harder than either and is the only one that meaningfully resists salt and UV. The trade-off is prep and price, which is why we correct the paint first and give you three tiers.
New paint is the easiest and cheapest to coat because there is less to correct. Dealer-applied "protection packages" are usually a sealant with a long warranty; a professional Gyeon coating applied in your driveway is a different product at a similar price.
It is not armor. A coating resists swirls and light scratches but will not stop rock chips, deep scratches or a bad automatic car wash from marring it. It also does not make the car self-cleaning in the literal sense; it makes washing easy and safe. We tell you this up front because we would rather you buy the right thing.
Hand wash or touchless only, no brush car washes. Use a pH-neutral soap, dry with a clean microfiber and avoid parking under sap trees when you can. A once-a-year maintenance wash with an SiO2 topper keeps it slick, and on Ultimate we come inspect it annually for free.

Our Essential tier is rated for 1 year, Premium for 3 years and Ultimate for 4 years. Real-world life depends on how the car is washed and where it is parked. A hand-washed, garaged car will hit the rating; a brush-washed car left under a pine tree will not.
Plan on 6 hours for Essential, 8 for Premium and up to 10 for Ultimate, because the correction stage is where the time goes. We do it at your home, and the car needs to stay dry and parked for the rest of the day while the coating sets.
A garage is ideal but not required. A shaded driveway on a dry day above 50 degrees works. We will not coat in direct summer sun or in rain, and we reschedule for free if the forecast turns.
Yes, and we fix them first. Every package includes prep or correction matched to the tier. Coating over swirls makes them permanent, so if the paint needs more correction than the tier includes, we tell you before we start and quote the difference.
Usually the 1-year Essential tier is. It keeps the car easy to wash and protects the paint through the lease, and it costs less than a single paint repair at turn-in. The 3 and 4 year tiers make more sense on a car you own.
